keylabs_hdbench_test.txt file for KeyLabs Test Packages =================================================================== About the test -------------- The hdbench test is used to run a basic functionality check on some video cards and to collect information about how well it's working. This information can be used to compare with performance statistics provided by manufacturers of video cards to ensure the numbers are in the same ballpark. The test uses the hdbench program only and has no associated script files or configuration files. The test requires the hdbench program be in the PATH so that it can be run from a command line. Steps: 1. Unpack the hdbench tarball and cd into the hdbench directory 2. Give the command ./configure 3. Give the command make 4. Give the command make install -- hdbench is now ready to run. 5. Read the README file for hdbench in the hdbench*/doc/ directory. 6. The program is run from X so start X when ready to run the test. Monitoring the Test/Collecting Information ------------------- When hdbench is run, you'll see an OPTIONS box on the lower right corner of the program window; you'll need to turn on the button which is labeled "measure IMAGE too." Next, right click once on the button labeled VIDEO on the left side of the program window and the video test will begin. When the video tests are complete, you'll see some numbers listed in the boxes to the right of the VIDEO button. These are the performance numbers from the test. Write these numbers down as per the worksheet and you're finished.
