This document presents the results of the Linux Compatibility test, which included the installation and Testing of Redhat 7.0 with the Aten MiniView 4-Port USB KVM switch.
KeyLabs' Linux compatibility testing of this system showed the Aten MiniView 4-Port USB to be compatible with Redhat 7.0. The Aten MiniView 4-Port USBis awarded the KeyLabs Linux Compatibility mark.
System Configuration
The following table defines the system configuration tested by KeyLabs.

| The unit tested was a 4-port connecting/switching device which allows the user to control 4 separate PCs from one KVM combination, i.e., one keyboard, mouse and monitor set controls four separate CPUs contained in separate housings.
The Aten MiniView 4-Port USB provides connectors for a keyboard, monitor, mouse and, of course, provides connections for each of the above for four separate CPU units on their USB ports. On the front of the unit it provides LEDs which indicate the CPU it is currently operating with. The Aten MiniView 4-Port has an autoscan feature available on the front panel which will scan each
connected CPU and display its screen for a few seconds.

Testing Results
The following table provides the pass/fail result for the hardware as tested in this system by KeyLabs.

| Install Linux on one or more CPUs while the CPUs are connected and controlled via the MiniView. Procedure Description | PASS |
| Notes: The MiniView dealt with multiple operations during the install once the install process began; no keyboard was available to access the BIOS. Users will need a PS/2 keyboard to use
when needing to access the BIOS. Otherwise, no problems associated with the switching mechanism. |

| Verify the MiniView is state-independent of its controlled CPUs. | PASS |
| Notes: The MiniView seemed invisible to the connected CPUs as they were shutdown and restarted. |
Switching Commands Testing
| HOT KEY SWITCHING |
| Verify the MiniView switching works with Linux keyboard drivers. The MiniView isn't packaged with software and does not have internal key commands and on-screen display capabilities. All switching
must be done using the front control panel of the KVM. | N/A |
| Notes: The MiniView manual switching performed well, maneuvering between CPUs with no conflicts with X, console screens or the controlling KVM unit. |
| AUTO SWITCHING |
| Verify the functionality of the automatic switching feature of the MiniView, which automatically cycles through the display output of the various connected CPUs. | PASS |

| Notes: The state of the monitor had no effect on the displays of the various CPUs with all displays functioning properly. |
| IDLE TIME TEST |
| Verify the MiniView can recover from idle periods without loss of keyboard, monitor or mouse contact. | PASS |
| Notes: The MiniView showed no negative effects from being left idle for a period of over one hour. |
Multiple OS Test
| With Microsoft WINDOWS98 |
| Verify the continued functionality of the connected CPUs and KVM units when running different operating systems on one or more of the connected CPUs. | PASS |
| Notes: The MiniView remained invisible to all connected CPUs with no adverse effects on operations |
