    Notes and Observations:

The OSS/Free audio device drivers for Linux do not include support for the Aureal Vortex sound chip used in this system as of the kernel revision tested. At the time this document was written there were no plans to implement support for this sound device in the OSS/Free driver. See http://www.linux.org.uk/OSS/ for further information.

Additionally, the experimental ALSA sound drivers do not include support for the Aureal Vortex sound chip. See http://www.alsa-project.org for more information.

4Front Technologies does offer a commercial sound driver for Linux compatible with this sound device. See http://www.opensound.com for more information.
