This document presents the results of the Linux Compatibility test, which included the installation of Caldera OpenLinux 2.3,
Turbo Linux Server 4.0 and SuSE 6.2 .
on the IBM Netfinity 3500.
AppLabs' Linux compatibility testing of this system showed the IBM Netfinity 3500 to be compatible with Caldera OpenLinux 2.3,
Turbo Linux Server 4.0 and SuSE 6.2 . The IBM Netfinity 3500 is awarded the AppLabs Linux Compatibility mark.

Hardware Details

| Motherboard and Processor | The system motherboard is manufactured by IBM and contains a BX chipset with 512KB L2 cache, and 128 MB RAM. This system contains two Intel Pentium II processor. The processors as tested were clocked at 550Mhz .

The system includes a standard floppy drive interface.

There is a Crystal Audio Soundcard built into the Motherboard.

General Notes
User may need to configure X with XF86Setup or a similar program, depending upon the Linux distribution used on this machine.
Caldera 2.3 Notes:
Tester had to configure X using XF86Setup and the SVGA driver.
Tester had to manually install kernel source, C compiler and X development tools.
Tester had to re-compile kernel to get SMP functionality.
Turbo Linux 4.0 Notes:
Tester used XF86Setup to configure X and the SVGA driver.
SuSE 6.2 Notes:
Tester had to manually install kernel source. User will need to re-compile kernel source to get SMP functionality.
During install, user will need to choose the SCSI driver (aha7xxx) from the modules list of SCSI drivers.
