Linux Compatibility Testing Results

This document presents the results of the Linux Compatibility test, which included the installation of Caldera OpenLinux 2.3, TurboLinux 6.0, and SuSE Linux 6.3 on the IBM IntelliStation M-Pro workstation.

AppLabs' Linux compatibility testing of this system showed the IBM IntelliStation M-Pro workstation to be compatible with Caldera OpenLinux 2.3, TurboLinux 6.0, and SuSE 6.3. The IBM IntelliStation M-Pro is awarded the AppLabs Linux Compatibility mark.

Hardware Details

The following table defines the hardware configuration details for the tested system.

Hardware Configuration Information

Motherboard and Processor

This test system contains one Intel Pentium III processor clocked 733 MHz. Main board ID number is: J1BKD01Q554.

Display Adapters

The configuration as tested by AppLabs included a Matrox G400 AGP display adapter. There is 16 MB of video RAM.

I/O Busses

There are five (5) 32-bit PCI slots. This system includes one AGP slot and no (0) ISA slots. The system includes a standard floppy drive interface. There are two USB ports. There are PS/2 style keyboard and mouse ports.

Network Interface

The network adapter used is an integrated Intel Ether Express Pro 100.

Included Peripherals

The included CD-ROM drive is a Atapi-type CDR-8480C. This system was tested with an IBM KB-7953 104 button PS/2 key keyboard and a generic 3-buttton mouse.

The hard drive tested was an IBM-DJNA-371350 (13GB) IDE drive.

Miscellaneous Hardware

There is one 16550A compatible serial port present. There is one bi-directional parallel port. There is one 1.44 megabyte floppy drive. present.

2. Sound for SuSE 3.6 required no modification past installation when the multimedia configuration is included in the install.
