This document presents the results of the Linux Compatibility test, which included the installation of
Caldera Enterprise Server 2.3, SuSE Linux 6.2 and TurboLinux Workstation 4.0 on the IBM Netfinity 5000.
AppLabs' Linux compatibility testing of this system showed the IBM Netfinity 5000 to be compatible with Caldera
Enterprise Server 2.3, SuSE Linux 6.2 and TurboLinux Workstation 4.0. The IBM Netfinity 5000 is awarded the AppLabs Linux Compatibility mark.

Hardware Details
The following table defines the hardware configuration details for the tested system.
| Hardware Configuration Information |
| Motherboard and Processor | The system motherboard is a high performance IBM design containing a mixture of Intel and IBM logic. The motherboard is an IBM PowerPC 403GA. There appeared to be no compatibility problems between Linux and the motherboard logic in this system.
This system contains one Intel Pentium II processor. The processors as tested were clocked at 400Mhz (also the 550Mhz processor) .

| Display Adapters | There is an S3 Trio64V2/GX display adapter integrated into the system.
There is one megabyte of video memory present.

| I/O Busses | There is a two channel Adaptec AIC-7895 Ultra-2 LVD SCSI host adapter integrated in the system.There are four PCI slots. This system includes 2 ISA slots.
The system includes a standard floppy drive interface. There are two USB ports present.
There are PS/2 style keyboard and mouse ports present. The bundled hard drive is IBM DCHS04Y rev 6363. |

| Included Peripherals | The included CD-ROM drive is a Sanyo CRD-1332P 32X. This system had an IBM KB-7958 104-key PS/2 keyboard and an IBM M-S35 3-button PS/2 mouse.

There are two 16550A compatible serial ports present.
There is one bi-directional parallel port present.
There is one 1.44 megabyte floppy drive present.

Related Notes
1. The S3 Trio onboard video chip does not have a functioning driver with any of the above-listed distributions. If the
user needs X they must use the XF86_VGA16 X driver.
2. The Caldera eServer 2.3 cannot do a standard NFS network install. Users are directed to the Caldera website to get
instructions for doing a DHCP-based NFS install.
