Related Notes

All RedHat 7.0

1. NFS installer is broken on RedHat 7.0. Use ftp or CD-ROM to install.

All Distributions

1. Sound testing was completed using the Advanced Linux Sound system (ALSA) using the snd-card-via686a module from the ALSA 5.9 or 5.10 drivers package. On-board sound requires the ALSA drivers. Users can get the most recent ALSA files at:

http://www.alsa-project.org/

Users of TurboLinux 6.1 Pro English sound read the specific notes below for their distribution.

2. Video was tested using the GeForce (DDR) driver. The nVidia card which is packaged with the 330 is not a generic nVidia card, but is a VRx card made specially for the SGI workstations. Best results will be obtained with using the correct drivers supplied by SGI on the ProPack 1.3-VW.

All SuSE 6.4 Distributions

1. Users are advised not to turn on USB functionality in the BIOS as the system will no longer boot properly.

TurboLinux 6.1 Pro English

1. Sound is broken on this distribution and the ALSA utilities package won't compile from source due to missing GNU programs such as Bison and flex. To fix sound using ALSA, compile the ALSA drivers and libs from source and install. Use pre-compiled binaries for the ALSA utilities to set volume and un-mute.

2. SMP functionality is available only after a kernel recompile as the modules-info doesn't function correctly.

TurboLinux 4.0 Traditional Chinese

1. Users will need to upgrade their XFree86 to XFree86 3.3.5 or later to user any X server other than the VGA16 server.
